I admit it. I’ve been suffering from Imposter Syndrome. And after that, I talk to Tobias Buckell about Kickstarter, stats, and the future of publishing.

  1. Hi Mur.

I think the phrase “fake it until you make it” applies here. I completely understand Imposter Syndrome, and keenly feel it with my photography, book reviews and nearly anything else.

Remember the role playing game In Nomine? In their supplement describing the dreamlands, they describe the fallen angel of the Dreamlands and her conviction that everyone is going to find out that she is a sham, a fake, and then what is she going to do?

After reading that the first time, I stopped and thought. “That’s me.” And then N read closer and realized it is all in her head, she really is good at her job.

It’s a bit harder for me to apply this to my own life, but you know how THAT goes.

    Best Regards,
    Paul

  2. Oh, and as always, Mur, if it doesn’t get said enough, thank you for doing I Should Be Writing. Not just the guests (Toby is awesome and the conversation with him regarding Kickstarter excellent), but shining a life onto the inner life of a writer is invaluable.
