Grant Baciocco- Creative Genius

Below is the promo for my buddy Grant’s (Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, The Henson Podcast) annual Advent Calendar podcast. And I wanted to talk a bit about it as an example of frightening creativity.

Every year Grant’s mom fills his advent calendar full of stuff. And this 30+ year old man opens it faithfully, every day. And he records it.

And it’s freaking brilliant.

Every day he does something different. Sometimes he writes a song. Sometimes he throws up a green screen and goes traveling. Sometimes he crawls under his bed. You never know. He’s been doing it for years. And it’s funny every damn time. It’s not what IN the doors;his mom usually puts in cheap little trinkets, toys, even office supplies or money. But Grant uses music and his natural charisma and talent to make this a show I will not miss.

I’ve said it before- taking a trope, or a story that’s used before, or something that’s supposedly childish or repetitive, should not stop you from creating. All you have to do is find the correct angle. Watch Grant’s promo. Subscribe to his podcast, whether you have kids or not (the kids will love it, BTW). He’s an inspiration.

(Grant has also encouraged other Advent Calendar podcasts, and this year my daughter Princess Scientist and my husband and I will be doing one, with our own twist.)
