I am stoked that you are teaching The Artists Way, but the Podcast download is crawling along at a snails pace, and the video is impossible to watch as it continually stops to buffer.
Did you encode the video as H.264?

Thanks Mur for the making the video and letting me join you as you write through The Artist’s Way. I’ve used this book before, however, a refresher is always welcome. I’ve done the second book, Walking in the World, or whatever the title is. The morning pages and the walks are really helpful. The date thing is a little harder to do and I usually get distracting. Going to Borders for a date may not be a good idea.
Your video was inspiring. Although I consider myself a practicing Christian (well most of the time), I find Julia a little “woo-woo” at times. There’s a great bible verse that says it better, but I won’t bore you.
I am using a large moleskine with the cover decorated by myself. However, I also have a cheap spiral notebook with Wonder Woman on the front that would work just as well. Borders sells a generic version of moleskine, called Picadilly, that also works well.
For some reason, I found myself thinking of “Writing Down the Bones” by Natalie Goldberg. She’s always good for a quick fix. Next time you pan your bookshelves can you please move slower? I find it very interesting what other books people are reading or using.

As for ‘woo-woo’, I think you’ve nailed the relevancy to artistic growth. This would be obvious to those who practice non-theistic religions and/or live in places where they are practice. Non-theistic religions are about self-awareness, our surroundings and awareness of our impacts on things around us. The rest are man-made constructs and unimportant. In my view, this is why Cameron sees the relationship(s) she does.

I’m going to try to follow along with this. I’ve gone through the book (as you know), a few times over the past ±15 years, as well as its sequel, and, while I’m not sure if I’m up for the long haul with my current state of things, it’s been nibbling at the edges of my brain that I’m due to give it another whirl. While, as you know, I’m not in agreement with every little thing in the book, I get something different out of it every time. I still aim to do morning pages everyday, and usually succeed, and I notice something for the better comes out of doing them rather than not doing them.

Great video, and I am stoked to get started, however, confusion has consumed what is left of any lucidity. You mention at the end of the video that week one has officially begun, however, does this call for merely acquiring the materials, or are we to read the first chapter?

I’m glad you’re doing this, Mur. Gives me a reason to take another whack at it. I also mentioned it in the News section of my homepage. Now I have to figure out what to do for my artist date. My wife was laid off a few months ago, so money is tight. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
