Edward was the best cleaner in GLOBE. He scrubbed clean the data of land that had been abandoned or reclaimed, removing any remnant code that might be lingering, any booby traps the previous tenant left behind. New Wheel, the company that created GLOBE, had brought him on as contractor, but had since hired him full time. The turnover rate for virtual real estate was surprisingly high. There were always houses that needed cleaning.

But one house would not go quietly. It’s elements refused to be deleted. More than that, it called to Edward. Called to him to come in. Edward thought he knew everything about GLOBE…what could possibly be the harm of a virtual house?
