Zombies Versus Rabbis

Moishe could hear the way they clawed at the door, the wood doing little to muffle their hungry groans. “Rabbi, don’t you think we should…?” Rabbi Auslander’s glare evaporated the word from his mouth.

“Not until the lesson is finished. Now. What are they?”

“…Qlipoth…”

“So is this jar. Be specific!” The wood of the door began to crack.

“Thagirion! Thagirion! They’re Thagirion! The disputers, the painful movers, the demons called the Zomiel, great black giants that are always working against–” Again, all words were lost in the face of the Rabbi’s gaze.

“Thagirion would have sufficed. You’ll make a good Rabbi one day, Moishe. Should we survive the night.” The old man reached into the large carved chest in the corner, and drew out a long parcel wrapped in blue velvet. With callous disregard, Rabbi tossed aside the velvet, revealing a intricately engraved shotgun.

“Now that you know what they are,” he said, checking the barrels. “Allow me to show you how to stop them…”
