    A good tip for finding maps and research in general is to find a good, recent, academic book or article about the topic and contact the author. Another option is to go to a university near you and contact the lecturers who deal with subjects like yours. Most will be happy to help as teaching and research are their jobs.

    Another option for finding maps is the big libraries (such as Library of Congress, NYC library and even international ones) most have some sort of inter-library loan policy so you’ll probably have to spend some money but you can probably get the maps or copies of them. They usually work with university libraries and many city libraries.
