I was so afraid that your announcement was that you were quitting ISBW!! I’m SO SO glad to hear that you’re going to actually step it up and ‘get ‘er done’ as people in MT say! You’re going to do great, I can’t wait until you DO get that first six figure advance!! You’re capable of doing it, the stars just have to align for the market to be READY for it!

OMG!Congratulations! *dances* I think that’s the dream of every artist, to be able to just perform your art! You are one lucky gal! Hopefully, I’ll be in the same boat one day… You know, without the children or husband to care for…

Congratulations and best of luck. Not many people really go after the things they want like you’re doing right now, and I’m always in favor of anything that means more Mur Lafferty fiction and podcasts.

Oooooo! Ha! HA ! HAHAHA! “Pretty well-known” *slaps knee, wipes tear* Oh, man! I’m glad you’ve got your ducks in a row! So, now I’m off to Etsy to look for a frilly 50s-style apron with Cthulu on the front. Send me your snail-mail address! Love you, kid! GO, EAGLE, GO!

Mur, you are 100% right that this is a blessing in disguise. Having this amount of time to dedicate to your craft is fantastic and I, for one, wish I could do the same.

Good luck - may start out a culture shock, but now is the time to enjoy the result of the decision. Whatever happens - enjoy.

Mur, we would ALL love to have this opportunity. Go for it!
I am trying to get my boss to let me work 4 days per week so I can spend more time on writing (and learning French). If you can even get the chance to TRY, try it. Not a lot of us have the chance to try it.
If, in the end, it does not work out, at least you will not have “What if I had…” regrets.

Go Mur go!
You could always get a part-time job to get out of the house, get fodder for the book, escape from Pink Tornado for a few hours, etc.

Sounds great, Mur! Your title did scare me, too. Reminded me of your canceling of Geek Fu Action Grip (ooh ooh, will you be reviving Geek Fu? huh? huh? huh?)
Anyway, glad to see you’re able to pursue your dreams like this. My GF does wire jewelry and really wants to be able to do it full time herself. I hope she can do what you’re doing.

Commiserations on losing the job, and congrats on taking the plunge into full time writing (a big pat on the back for your husband too).
Of course you realise that according to the ratified edicts of the cosmos, Fate is now obliged to present you with a counter offer of an ‘almost but not quite’ dream job sometime in the next three months.
It’s in the same clause that presents you with a future soul mate in the month before leaving for a 12 month overseas trip.
Don’t say you weren’t warned.

I’m swallowing my jealousy! But I’m genuinely glad for you that your husband is supportive and you’ve got this opportunity to spend more time on your writing. Go, Mur, go! :o)

Well, you just became one of my all time favorite heroes with your decision to not pursue the job hunt, but to stay home and write instead. Some years ago, I quit my day job - 80 hours a week was killing me - and am now a write-at-home-mom. Beware the trap of thinking you’ll have more time to write though. You’ve done this before, I know, but when you’ve got so much free time on your hands, it seems to disappear pretty quickly. Set office hours and stick to them, and don’t spend too much time on the house cleaning. When you die, you’ll be buried in dirt anyway. Make sure you make time for the writing, and congrats on your good fortune to be able to make this choice
