I’m a new listener of your podcast and enjoy it.
One of your feedback postings pointed out two solutions to another listener’s boredom with finishing her own novel. I think that it is important to first assess whether it is boredom. Many people, myself included, often use a limited range of feeling words to cover a great breadth of experience. The writer in question may indeed have been feeling bored…or overwhelmed with tying up all the ends, lost in terms of how to end, frustrated by looming editorial issues to be dealt with later, or disappointed that the work on the written page doesn’t yet match the vision with which the writer began. Any of these feelings can result in a lack of desire to continue, then evaluated as boredom.
That is all to say - before I can apply an effective counter to a emotional reaction when writing I first must make sure I understand correctly interpret the emotion. And there are so many of them to trip me up in my writing.
Carry on,
Kirk
