What was that about an "Instant Cowboy: Just Add Water" story?

I decided to take the challenge and write a story based on that title. Because I couldn't think of anything right off the bat, I decided to ask a few people for random story elements. Here's what I got.

* Sex scandals
* Seal hunting
* The old lady had it in for him.
* Rotting fish
* Burning greenhouse
* A large, strange and deep hole that suddenly appeared somewhere.
* A monkey that’s a junkie
* “…and she was hardly aware of what lurked around the corner.”

The story, therefore, includes all these elements, and was put together in about three hours. It's not exactly what I would call a master work, but it was certainly a fun exercise. Thanks for the idea!

Here's the story, by the way: Instant Cowboy: Just Add Water. Hope you like it.

I have had poor experiences with the group story-writing thing. Several people and I were posting contributions to a Lovecraftian story and it was coming along very well. The problem occurred when a few of the writers decided to take the story to a different theme, that of a typical Steven King story. I have no bone against Steven King personally but his stories are often quite different than Lovecraft's stories. The effect was that a lot of the Lovecraftian writers stopped posting, and because the story was catered under a Lovecraftian fan site, the story died.
For this to work I think there has to be a manager, a DM to use a gaming term, whom would keep some kind of focus. He or she wouldn't control the content but would guide and protect the story.

Hey Mur -
I thought of something I wanted to comment on as I was listening to the podcast - but stupid me put off coming over and posting it. :( And now I've forgotten what it was!

Ah well - instead, I'll just say "Keep up the great work!"
