ISBW #42 - Conventions

  • I sold a story to Scrybe Press!
  • Trying to get the novel edited by July 1… ergh…
  • Conventions: Do: be nice, understand their schedule. Don’t: Ask for them to read your stuff, ask to be introduced to their agent.
  • Alex Wilson gives us the Clarion Podcast, and he supplies our closing music, Untitle Pretention… available through Creative Commons.

Write, already!

  8. Congrats and a comment… Like you, I’m a struggling fiction writing (tho I write mysteries) and a decent non-fiction writer (professional tech writer). One thing I found that really helped me in both areas was studying some of the great essays and howto’s of creative writing and poetry. One particular hero of mine is Richard Hugo. I consider his book of essays is a must read. Below is a link to a couple of the essays therein. Highly recommend them, not only for the craft advice but also for general inspiration to keep writing.

  9. Congratulations!

  10. Congrats on another sale and I too rather enjoyed that closing song - had me laughing.

  11. Thanks for the kind words about the song, and thanks Mur for playing it! I’m viewing it as my Clarion theme song this summer. Available for separate download here.

    I should be workshopping.
