We’ll miss her

I just heard that Octavia Butler died recently. She collapsed outside her house of what doctors assume was a stroke and when she arrived at the hospital, the blood had pooled in her brain. They operated but she died.

Octavia was on my “I’ll get around to reading her someday” list, now I regret not reading her sooner. I’d read some of her short fiction and it was quite good. She’ll be missed.

  1. such sad news. she’s been on my ‘to read’ list as well. i remember first hearing of her through a scifi channel piece on harlan ellison. she seemed like a neat person.

  2. I’ve read only about half of her books. She was an amazing writer, with a generous heart and a clear, perceptive eye.

  3. I have two of her books on my bookshelf of TBR. I am going to make an effort to read them now.
