ISBW #8 - Late and Long

Apologies for the lateness of this podcast.

I interviewed Steve Eley from Escape Pod, played an audio comment from Paul Jenkins of The Rev Up Review, and play a promo from Spaceship Radio. So it’s longer than usual, next week we’re back to the ususal length.

Escape Pod
Spaceship Radio
Random Signal
Lulu Rejection Toilet Paper
The Rev Up Review
Viable Paradise

Thanks for listening. You should be writing.

And our winning logo, thanks to Steven Raikow:

  1. Mur:

Thank-you for link and the on air nod you gave me on the show.

I would love to attract you audience to a feature I’m running over at Spaceship Radio. This morning I put up a script wiki where listeners can contribute to radio scripts. It’s a great place to get the creative juices flowing. Also I can make a guarantee that I know all struggling writers will appreciate…

    NO REJECTIONS!!!!

I will be directing my bunch of little Bradbury’s over to you site for guidance. Please keep up the good work.

P.s. I can’t wait to read your book. I think listeners to your show will get a little something extra from reading it. Even if it’s not the next ‘Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom’. Have you ever considered self publishing?

  2. Hey Mur, thanks for doing the podcasts.
I kid you not, I listen to your show while milking goats. Literally. I usually get through the cows with Mike Stackpole, Yours is just long enough to milk the goats, and I groom the horses to “Sam and Jim go to Hollywood”. Another thing that you might find encouraging is that I’m not even a novel writer (at least not primarily). I’m a screenwriter on my way out to Hollywood next year and I’m just devouring all the writing advice I can find. You’ll be pleased to know that your writing tips and advice translate very well into Screenwriting-ese.
    Peace out.

  3. Mur,

Been listening to Geek Fu Action Grip for a while now. I love the show. I am now going to try out this one too. I should be writing too instead of listening to podcasts like yours and the dragonpage!!

  4. Mur, great show — I just started listening today, and I’m catching up on the bus to and from campus. Thanks for the mention of National Novel Writing Month — it may be the impetus I need to get off my butt and start writing.

OBWritingTip: I don’t know if it helps or not, but the mp3 player I use (for listening to podcasts, among other things) has a very nice record function. Sometimes when my ideas don’t want to flow onto the keyboard I’ll splutter them into my microphone. This works really well on the shuttle bus, because people will move far away from the crazy person and I’ll have the entire seat to myself.

  5. Great podcast! I am a new listener, and your interview was great! Keep up the good work!
