Oh, right, I’m working on a novel…

449 words this morning. Back on the horse. Or wagon. Or something.

New goal - finish this novel by mid-October and then consider starting the new one during NaNoWriMo. This may be too ambitious. This may be insane. But that’s another one of those Writing Rules they tell you - finish the first book and start on the second.

(Oh, and they say don’t make the second one a sequel, since you have no guarantee that the first will sell)

  1. I never heard that writing rule… mind you, I’ve always worked on another project when writer’s block hit me on the current one.

I’m a strong booster for NaNoWriMo. In fact I’ve convinced another Montrealer to join us this year. :)

Before my first NaNo soon 3 years ago I lacked the confidence to write something novel length. Now I look at ways to write more.

  2. I’ve been reading “No Plot? No Problem!” and I think I’m going to take a shot at NaNoWriMo; my first time. It’d be great to “know” other folks who’re doing it!

  3. Go for it Pete! I also own that book, and it’s great reading, and a very tempting item!

NaNoWriMo is the reason I was gung-ho to initially try out for Beyond the Storm until reality struck: I could get a 1st draft done in 3.5 days, but a good revision would take too much longer.

  4. Hi All =o)

I think this will be my fourth kick at the NaNo can, and while I’ve never made the word count yet, I always find myself looking forward to November and a new beginning.

Mur - love the show. It’s SOOOOOO damned reassuring to hear about other writers and the battles they have in getting the “work” done. Two thumbs up! Your efforts are appreciated! Cheers!
